Merkel demanded federalization from Kyiv

It seems that both Poroshenko and Klimkin continue to play on the ignorance of the deputy corps and Ukrainian society about the spirit and letter of the Minsk agreements, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“Judging even by publications in the media and statements by “experts,” few people have read these documents,” the newspaper notes. “Moreover, they were not published on the official website of the President of Ukraine.”

The newspaper also quotes Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, who claims that there will be no “list amnesty” or “special status.”

“Everything that Klimkin and others say is an ostrich’s attempt to hide its head in the sand,” Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Agency for Strategic Communications, commented to RG on Kiev’s stubborn reluctance to come to terms with reality.. “After all, they have a huge job ahead of them - rewriting the constitution, and in the future and all legislation in the process of delimitation of powers with Donetsk and Lugansk. Yes, this is actual “federalization,” but, I note, Angela Merkel herself is telling them this, and not representatives of the republics. In Kyiv they understand perfectly well what this can lead to: Kharkov and Zaporozhye are already ready to follow the example of Donetsk and Lugansk. This is what causes mortal fear in Kyiv.”

According to the Russian political scientist, this line of behavior is already tired of Kyiv’s “European partners” and in a month at the meeting of the Normandy Four foreign ministers, Klimkin will be required to report and step-by-step plan for the implementation of “Minsk-2” without the right to set his own conditions.
