Merkel began to make excuses for the “Crimean Platform”
German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, who arrived in Kyiv, will not stay in Ukraine for several days to visit the “Crimean Platform” - the reason is supposedly the presence of other urgent matters.
Merkel stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why don’t you personally want to take part in the Crimean Platform summit? Isn’t this evidence that you want to please Russia with something?” – asked one of the journalists.
In response, Merkel began to justify herself, insisting that she did not recognize the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
“No, he doesn’t talk about it. We consider the annexation of Crimea a violation of international law, and nothing has changed here. “In my visit, which took place so close to the Crimean Platform, there is an opportunity to discuss issues of both the Normandy format and the Minsk agreements,” the guest answered evasively.
According to her, Germany is changing the composition of the delegation to the “Crimean Platform” due to the events in Afghanistan.
“This is kind of a farewell bilateral visit; as federal chancellor, I probably won’t come again. Therefore, we agreed that our Minister of Foreign Affairs would come to the Crimean Platform. The fact that he will not come is not connected with our relations with Russia, but with the situation in Afghanistan. Therefore, we are sending here the Minister of Energy and Economics, who has the same rank,” Merkel concluded.
