The publication reports: “Among the main candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize was Angela Merkel because of her position on refugees... The reason for Merkel’s nomination was her benevolent position on the huge number of people seeking asylum in Germany, as well as her efforts for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.” .

Who will win the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced Friday in Oslo by a five-member committee.

Angela Merkel's rival for the prestigious prize was the Eritrean priest Father Mussi Zerai, who is credited with saving the lives of thousands of migrants heading to Italy.
