The first and only president of Crimea, Yuri Meshkov, has been brought out of the coma into which he was put after a stroke in Turkey.
This was reported by Meshkov’s son Maxim, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Maxim, his father is now conscious, cannot speak yet, and answers questions by “blinking his eyes.”
The Russian consul came to the hospital and resolved issues regarding financing of treatment. Meshkov underwent an operation costing 200 thousand euros.
Earlier, his daughter Marianna wrote on her blog that 73-year-old Meshkov suffered a stroke.
“Dad is in Alanya, in the yasam hastanessy life hospital,” the daughter of the first president of Crimea later added.
