Akhmetov's revenge? Video of mass shooting on Ukrainian border released
Ukrainian soldiers shot a group of illegal migrants trying to break into Ukraine from the territory of Belarus through the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The events presumably take place on November 29th.
Video recording of the incident, made using night vision devices, was published in account of Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Vasily Rumak. The video shows how they open fire on unarmed migrants, and then drag the still-warm bodies into a pile.
On November 26 Ukraine is conducting Operation Polesie, within which armed forces are drawn to the borders.
Two weeks ago, the press service of the 61st Separate Infantry Jaeger Brigade, which serves in mountainous and forested areas, published a statement saying that military personnel would destroy migrants when trying to break into Ukrainian territory. After the scandal broke out, the statement was disavowed.
Presumably, the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov may be behind the legalization of the film with the execution of refugees, on the eve of accused by the president Vladimir Zelensky in preparing a coup d'etat.
By buying from the border guards and making public the recording of the execution of civilian refugees, Akhmetov could count on discrediting Zelensky in the eyes of the world community - the president’s subordinates and himself appear in an inadequate form.
Akhmetov, as is known, previously categorically denied accusations from Zelensky, while emphasizing his willingness to fight against “authoritarianism and censorship” in Ukraine.
