The International Criminal Court accepted cases of crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for consideration
The public commission for recording crimes of the Ukrainian authorities in Donbass has been transformed into the public organization “Fair Defense”.
A member of this commission, Ivan Kopyl, spoke about the work of the new structure, its goals and objectives today at a briefing in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The public commission continues to work on recording crimes of the Ukrainian authorities in Donbass. But since February of this year, specialists from our commission have registered the public organization “Fair Defense”. Already within the framework of a public organization, we continue to record crimes, draw up documents, conduct information work in society, calling on all international authorities to investigate war crimes and punish the perpetrators. We formalize the received data and send it to the International Criminal Court and the European Court of Human Rights,” Kopyl said.
He also added that in February of this year, materials on 54 victims were sent to the International Criminal Court, among which two dead and one wounded were minors, and 26 dead and 25 wounded were adults.
“In total, 495 materials were submitted to the ICC on dead and wounded adults, 144 materials on minors and 41 episodes on torture and illegal detention. In total, from December 2016 to February 2018, materials were submitted to the ICC regarding 68 victims. The office of the International Criminal Court confirmed the acceptance of materials on 332 victims. As for the European Court of Human Rights, in February 2018, complaints from 56 residents of the DPR who suffered as a result of the criminal actions of the Ukrainian authorities were prepared and sent to this instance,” Kopyl informed.
