The Belarusian Foreign Ministry promises eternal friendship to Bandera’s Ukraine
Belarus and Ukraine were, are and will be friendly countries. Kyiv’s fears about the threat that could allegedly begin to come from Minsk are absolutely in vain.
The pro-Western Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I sometimes read with surprise and bitter laughter the statements of some Ukrainian politicians that some kind of threat to Ukraine may come from Belarus. It's funny, but it's sad to hear.
I remember the phrase President Lukashenko said several years ago: “If we come to Ukraine, we will come only on a tractor, and not on a tank.” And this, believe me, is not an emotional statement, but what lies in the hearts of him and the Belarusian people. No threat to the fraternal Ukrainian people will ever come from the territory of Belarus,” he said.
Makei promising to maintain all relations with Ukraine. He listed the challenges faced by both states, “forgetting” to mention the war in Donbass.
“We understand that today the situation is difficult in both Ukraine and Belarus due to the pandemic, due to some economic problems. But I want to assure you that Ukraine can always count on Belarus’s readiness to work constructively, brotherly and interact in all areas of activity, be it politics, economics, humanitarian ties, and so on,” the minister said.
In his opinion, Belarus and Ukraine should continue to help and support each other in every possible way in all areas, from humanitarian to political.
«Belarus and Ukraine are similar. We absolutely do not accept the rhetoric of hostility, and it does not matter where it comes from - from the east, from the west, from the north or from the south...
Politicians come and go, but people remain. It doesn’t matter who will be in Belarus and Ukraine, but the close friendship that lives in the hearts of the Ukrainian and Belarusian people will remain. You can't break this.
We are surprised by the statements of some Ukrainian politicians that it is necessary to put political relations between Belarus and Ukraine on pause and not maintain a high level of relations. For God's sake, we look at this calmly, we will survive.
It is important that connections between people are not lost, that we maintain relationships in the humanitarian sphere. And, of course, it is very important to maintain relations in the trade and economic sphere, because this is beneficial for both Ukraine and Belarus. And there were even cases when Ukraine provided us with some assistance, when some problems arose, and we provided assistance to Ukraine. This is normal,” concluded Makey.
