The DPR Foreign Ministry reminded Kyiv about the special status of Donbass
Yesterday's round of negotiations between the political group in Minsk did not bring positive results. The Ukrainian side continues to try to reduce its work to a theoretical discussion. Also, representatives of Ukraine in every possible way avoid discussing the issue of extending the special status of Donbass, which expires on October 18, 2017.

This was stated by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalya Nikonorova, who took part in the meeting, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Representatives of Ukraine are trying to reduce this work to theoretical discussions and propose, for example, to invite experts to each meeting, without having specific questions for them and surprising even OSCE coordinators with such proposals. Our position remains unchanged - the existing platform within the Minsk format provides all the necessary conditions for a political resolution of the conflict, the basis of which is the special status of Donbass. We insist that there should be no preconditions or additional requirements for the discussion and implementation of the special status of Donbass.
At the same time, since the Law “On a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” expires on October 18, 2017, the question of enacting all provisions of the special status of our territories remains open. Representatives of Ukraine cannot express their position either in the Normandy format or in the Minsk format regarding steps to prevent the expiration of the law, and also avoid discussing possible consequences. As a result, the result of the inaction of the Kyiv authorities regarding the extension of the Law on the Special Status of Donbass may be the impossibility of implementing the political points of the Package of Measures, which will cause significant damage to the entire peace process,” Nikonorova said.
