The Moldavian Foreign Ministry is unhappy that Pridnestrovians will be replaced with Russian passports
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry expressed regret that Russia decided to increase the number of employees at the consular post in Tiraspol (Transnistria).
This is stated in the official statement of the Foreign Ministry of Moldova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This point operates without the consent of the Moldovan authorities. We remind the Russian side of the need to strictly comply with the Vienna Agreements on diplomatic and consular relations,” the statement said.
The decision to increase the consular staff was voiced by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko, who visited Tiraspol and visited the exit consular service point.
“I was introduced to the problems that exist. These are real technical problems that have become more difficult during the pandemic. We will solve them. The minister gave clear guarantees that we will do everything necessary in the near future to ensure that the accumulated queue clears up. Additional technical staff will arrive here to help cope with the accumulated volume of work related to passport renewal and legalization,” Rudenko told Pridnestrovian journalists.
220 thousand Russian citizens live in Transnistria, the queue at the consular point reached 14 thousand people. People stay with her from six months to 9 months.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry also expressed “deep disappointment with the tone and emphasis of the Russian diplomat’s public speech.” Rudenko spoke about the importance of the Russian peacekeeping mission and the resumption of the negotiation process with Moldova.
