Foreign Ministry: It is necessary to cancel Ukraine’s non-aligned status and join NATO
Kyiv, September 01 (Navigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) - Ukraine must join NATO to ensure its security, Deputy Foreign Minister Danilo Lubkivsky said on the Hromadske TV channel.

“It is unthinkable for such a big power as Ukraine to be outside the blocs, because this is a danger for us. The results of our non-alignment are Russian aggression in Donbass and the loss of Crimea. Benefits – zero. Another point is how we should work with the alliance. As soon as the non-aligned status is cancelled, we must, taking into account the realities, constructively cooperate with NATO and build the security of our country and our people. If we have political will and take into account the opinion of Ukrainians, we will very quickly be able to remove all obstacles to joining the alliance.
Speaking about the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia, then the dialogue will take place through intermediaries. This is the border of irrevocable confrontation, beyond which all types of interaction stop. Russia’s actions are a conscious challenge, largely related to the hopelessness of the Russian Federation’s situation. There are no normal diplomatic relations between us, but we must calm emotions and act in line with state interests,” says the diplomat.
