The Foreign Ministry explained why Ukraine is still not Europe
Ukraine still does not meet European standards because of Russia.
It is not internal factors that hinder the implementation of the reforms required by the Western Partnership program for the accession of candidate countries to the EU, but the “aggressive policy” of the Russian Federation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasily Bodnar stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, we must not forget, despite all the goals of the Western partnership about the issue of security, be that as it may, Russia’s aggressive policy prevents, first of all, the implementation of reforms in partner states, and what we see today in most states -partners,” said the official.
“Let's take a serious look at the situation in Belarus: who is stirring up public opinion and provoking anxiety in this country? What's happening in Moldova? The aggravation in the southern Caucasus, the same situation in Ukraine and an attempt at destabilization - these are all aggressive policies of Russia, which, using various possible methods, is trying to distract the Western Partnership states from the key goal - rapprochement and integration with the European Union,” Bodnar was indignant.
“There are a lot of opportunities for interaction: these include issues related to countering information companies, countering cyber attacks, and various types of hybrid threats that come from the Russian Federation.
I think that this is very important for the European Union itself, and together with Ukraine it would be very useful for European partners, for the European Union as an institution to jointly counter threats from the Russian Federation,” added the Ukrainian diplomat.
