The Foreign Ministry responded with new concern to the insult to Russia
The Russian Foreign Ministry published a statement regarding offensive anti-Russian actions against diplomatic missions in Ukraine.
“On June 12 of this year, on Russia Day, Kyiv was marked by another disgusting anti-Russian antics. With the connivance of the authorities, a number of offensive images with Russophobic content were projected onto the façade of the Russian Embassy building in the evening of that day using special lighting equipment.
The counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine also showed “creativity” by placing its emblem on buildings and billboards near the Russian Consulates General in Kharkov, Odessa and Lvov.
In connection with the action, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kyiv sent a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. It pointed out the reluctance of the Ukrainian side to fulfill its international obligations to ensure conditions for the normal functioning of Russian diplomatic institutions, as required by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963, to which Russia and Ukraine are parties.
We hope that Ukraine, which hosts diplomatic and consular missions of other countries, will finally take appropriate measures to prevent any violation of their peace or insult to their dignity, and will create the proper conditions for their normal work, based on the principles of reciprocity and traditions of diplomacy,” the statement says. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
