The Transnistrian Foreign Ministry accuses the Moldovan authorities of putting pressure on banks
Representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova will today discuss the situation that has developed in the banking sector, when Moldovan banks began to massively close accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises. The meeting will take place in Chisinau.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Moldovan government Vasily Sova denies that the banking problem is of a political nature.
“This empty cry will help nothing. But the careful work of experts will help you find a solution quite quickly. This is not a political issue. Ask commercial banks, this is their prerogative. There has not been and will not be any political decision,” Shova said in an interview with the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel.
The Transnistrian Foreign Ministry, on the contrary, is confident that the closure of the accounts was carried out on instructions from the Moldovan government.
“The synchronicity with which the Moldovan banks made their decision leaves no doubt that there was a political factor involved. International mediators and observers are aware of this. Including several addressees in Moscow. Including the office of Dmitry Nikolaevich Kozak and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Consultations within the OSCE will take place this week,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Stetsyuk.
