Today's statement by British Prime Minister Theresa May is “an unprecedentedly gross provocation that undermines the foundations of normal interstate dialogue,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This is stated in the official statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published a few hours after May’s speech in the British Parliament.

“Instead of completing its own investigation and using established international formats and tools, the British government chose confrontation with Russia. It is obvious that by resorting to unilateral and non-transparent methods of investigating this incident, the British authorities once again tried to unleash an indiscriminate anti-Russian campaign. Of course, our retaliatory measures will not be long in coming,” the statement said.

As Politnavigator previously reported, May today announced the expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats.
