The Russian Foreign Ministry hinted to Ukraine that something else would fall apart
The recognition of the unconstitutionality of the law “On the Fundamentals of Language Policy” will bring big internal political problems to Ukraine in the near future.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“Of course, this law prevented and is preventing radical nationalists from building a mono-ethnic unitary state. The Constitutional Court of Ukraine, unfortunately, plays along with them. The nationalist layer does not want to admit that Ukraine is a multinational state where people have the right to respect their traditions. Forgetting these elementary truths will not create anything but problems,” Zakharova said.
She recalled that the first attempt to repeal the language law took place back in 2014, immediately after the victory of Euromaidan.
“Even such an odious figure as Turchinov did not sign such a decision then. Our Western colleagues told us about this very often: it was just an attempt, it was not successful. This attempt has now been successfully implemented. What will our Western partners tell us now?” asked the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
She believes that it was the attempt to repeal the language law that gave rise to the events in Crimea and Donbass.
“You remember what this led to in 2014. It was the attempt to repeal this law that became the trigger. The people of Crimea decided to reunite with Russia. And protests in eastern Ukraine escalated into civil war. We have to see what the current actions will lead to, but it’s not difficult to analyze now. For the new Kyiv regime, the lessons of history mean nothing,” Zakharova noted.
