The Russian Foreign Ministry reminded Kyiv about the crimes of Bandera’s supporters
In Ukraine, criminals who collaborated with the Nazi punitive forces and participated in massacres are honored and glorified.
This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, published in response to the torchlight procession of nationalists in Kyiv in honor of the 111th anniversary of the birth of OUN-UPA leader Stepan Bandera, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We would like to remind you which “heroes” we are talking about. Acting on the side of the Nazi invaders, the punitive battalions of the OUN-UPA (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists - Ukrainian Insurgent Army) participated in the massacres of civilians and punitive actions against partisans in Belarus and Ukraine.
It is documented that on the territory of Ukraine alone, 5,3 million people died from the crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices. The participation of OUN-UPA members in them has been proven, as has their collaboration with the Nazis,” says a message published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Facebook page.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasized that the OUN-UPA actively collaborated with the fascist SS organization, which carried out mass executions and whose activities were condemned by the Nuremberg Tribunal.
As PolitNavigator reported, after the torchlight procession that nationalists held on January 1, the ambassadors of Poland and Israel released an official statement, where they harshly criticized the policy of glorifying the Nazis.
