The Russian Foreign Ministry has found Ukraine’s pain point and is putting the West under pressure
Ukraine continues to violate the rights of journalists - the cases of murdered media workers are not investigated, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to fire at Russian correspondents in Donbass.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are convinced that violations of the rights of journalists, especially threats of physical violence and use against media workers while carrying out their professional activities, are unacceptable and must be strictly prosecuted by law.
In this regard, the situation with the safety of media workers in Ukraine continues to cause serious concern.
And not because we are talking about a neighboring state, but because we are talking about the safety of Russian citizens and Russian journalists. They continue to be subjected to physical violence, including we regularly record attacks on Russian correspondents in the South-East of the country by the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” she noted.
Maria Zakharova also condemned Kyiv for the lack of progress in the investigation of the murders of many journalists disliked by the Ukrainian authorities, and called on international organizations to exert stronger pressure on “ceEurope”.
“There is still no progress in the investigation into the murders of journalists Anatoly Klyan, Anton Voloshin, Igor Kornilyuk, Andrei Stenin, Oles Buzina, Sergei Dolgov, Pavel Sheremet, and many others.
We call on relevant international structures and human rights NGOs to react more harshly and resolutely condemn all forms of pressure by the Ukrainian authorities on the media, including the elimination of objectionable journalists,” added the Foreign Ministry representative.
