The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of trying to negatively influence the visit of the Italian President to Moscow
The Russian Foreign Ministry regards the arrest of a consignment of Crimean wines at the annual international wine exhibition in Verona as a provocation, which was inspired by representatives of the Kyiv authorities in Italy.

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“Their task, apparently, was to cast a shadow on the successful visit of the President of Italy to the Russian Federation these days. It’s difficult to understand the motivation of these people,” Zakharova said.
She noted that the reference to EU Council regulations that motivated the arrest is unfounded. This document, although it has an anti-Crimean orientation, does not provide for a ban on exhibition non-commercial products produced in Crimea.
“It is puzzling that the Italian authorities, who actively advocate the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, were unable to resist this anti-Russian idea. We are forced to admit that this story does not add to the reputation of the organizers. It raises a lot of questions and causes an unpleasant aftertaste, and for wine this is of critical importance,” Zakharova said.
She also said that the Russian Embassy of the Russian Federation in Rome has taken appropriate steps to protect Russian participants in the exhibition.
