“There are a lot of incorrect interpretations based on information leaks from the Ukrainian side. Everything is mixed up, few people understand anything. I understand that Kyiv will continue to insist on its interpretation, but I would like to clarify,” Zakharova said.
According to her, at the last meeting of the Normandy Four in Berlin, they discussed the organization of enhanced round-the-clock monitoring by the OSCE monitoring mission of the disengagement of forces and equipment on the line of contact between the parties.
“The mission has been operating since March 2014 and is civilian in nature. Its observers are not armed. The issue of granting the right to carry service weapons for self-defense was discussed in the OSCE this summer. This issue was not developed due to lack of consensus. Russia did not object to arming OSCE observers with service weapons,” Zakharova said.
