The Russian Foreign Ministry threatened the United States with a painful response to sanctions
Russia may respond to new sanctions against it very painfully for the United States. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Ryabkov stated this today, speaking at the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“If the United States, contrary to common sense and painful experience, nevertheless follows the path of increasing sanctions measures, I assure you that in our arsenal there will be steps that will have a rather painful impact with regard to American positioning in the world and policy in the Russian and European directions. However, we never do anything proactively. Our responses are proportionate and dosed. Unlike many in the United States, we are not at the mercy of our own emotions,” Ryabkov said.
According to him, contrary to popular belief, influential Americans have both accounts and property in Russia.
“In addition, we have the possibility of using asymmetric measures, such as with the plutonium agreement. We retain the opportunity to apply a similar approach in the future,” Ryabkov said.
