The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Kyiv not to waste energy on “bombardment with notes of protest”
Russia returned notes of protest to Ukraine, in which official Kyiv demanded an explanation of the situation regarding excavations in Crimea, as well as the coronavirus on the peninsula and in the Donbass.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zakharova, it’s time for the Ukrainian authorities to stop dirtying the paper - the issue of Crimea is closed and sending notes on this matter is pointless, and Ukraine can talk directly with Donbass.
“Such steps of Ukrainian diplomacy never cease to amaze. At a time when a pandemic is raging in the country, and fires are raging in Chernobyl, when Russian planes are taking Ukrainian citizens out of third countries, and Russian diplomats are helping them return to their homeland, at this time the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is directing all its forces to bomb the “aggressor state” , as they call us, menacing notes of protest.
I appeal to my Ukrainian colleagues, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: save on paper. It seems that the Kyiv authorities live in a parallel reality. First, they cut off Crimea from water and electricity, impose a blockade of Donbass, and then demand a report on how Russia protects the residents of these regions from coronavirus infection.
We remind you that Kyiv has the opportunity for direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk if the Ukrainian authorities are truly concerned about the fate and health of the people living there. Russia is not a party to the conflict in southeast Ukraine and does not exercise control over the territory of Donbass,” Zakharova said.
