Russian Foreign Ministry: Zelensky has conditions - we have a position
The conditions that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky put forward for peace negotiations are unacceptable to Russia and reflect Kyiv’s reluctance to negotiate.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov stated this in an interview with the RTVI television channel, a PoitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The negotiating position has been repeatedly formulated by our leadership. We are not against negotiations with Ukraine, but the longer the process of non-negotiation drags on, the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement. There has been a lot of speculation in recent days about whether preconditions exist. Going into negotiations with preconditions in mind is counterproductive. This means people don't want results.
This is what we see in Kyiv. They don't want negotiations, so they put forward preconditions. But preconditions are one thing, and position is another matter. The position that ensures our territorial integrity as part of all the entities that have recently been accepted into the Russian Federation, in which it is necessary to consolidate through diplomatic instruments the fixation of the goals facing the Northern Military District, is unshakable. We must implement it during negotiations,” Ryabkov said.
