Russian Foreign Ministry: The European Union is helpless in Kosovo
The European Union has demonstrated its helplessness in the role of moderator in resolving the conflict in Kosovo - Albanian separatists are disrupting all previously reached agreements on respecting the rights of the Serbian population, but Brussels cannot do anything in response.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about this on Russian Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we take the successes of the European Union in Kosovo (they also volunteered to be a mediator between Pristina and Belgrade), in 2013 an agreement was concluded on the creation of a community of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo. Signed, agreed, rights were delegated to Serbian municipalities, including the right to have “semi-state” symbols, but also real rights relating to everyday life: linguistic, etc. Pristina refuses to comply with this. The European Union is helpless,” Lavrov stated.
“The European Union, as a potentially very strong foreign policy player, of course, I would wish more independence,” the minister also added.
