The Russian Foreign Ministry explained why it is dangerous not to hold elections in the DPR
Russia proceeds from the fact that the decision to hold elections in the LDPR is made by the population of Donbass. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The announcement of elections for the heads of the People’s Councils of the proclaimed republics followed the death of the head of the DPR, Zakharchenko, as a result of a terrorist attack. His signature is on the Minsk agreements, and it is clear that the purpose of the murder was to disrupt the peace settlement. Based on this, any power vacuum can be dangerous,” Zakharova said.
At the same time, she regarded the statements of the US State Department representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker on the LDPR as a violation of the Minsk agreements.
“For example, Mr. Volker said that the proclaimed republics of Donbass should disappear altogether. This fits into the context of the Minsk agreements, which the whole world recognized as having no alternative. Why such statements? – said Zakharova.
