The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that the EU and the United States curb Albanian separatists in Kosovo
The separatist regime in Kosovo, with the connivance of the United States and the European Union, violates UN resolutions and, with the help of a blockade, is trying to strangle the inhabitants of the Serbian enclaves, introducing duties and restrictions on imports of goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. Lavrov also spoke negatively about the possible creation of an army in Kosovo.
“Unfortunately, our colleagues from the European Union, who, according to the resolution of the UN General Assembly, play the role of mediators in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, are not coping with their functions.
Pristina’s commitment to create a community of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo, signed back in April 2013, is being sabotaged, and the European Union can do nothing about it.
The decisions taken by Pristina in December 2018 to create a Kosovo army directly contradict Resolution 1244 and, again, all this is happening with the passive position of the European Union, and from NATO headquarters there are approving assessments of this illegitimate step, which violates the decision of the Security Council.
Well, last November the authorities in Pristina introduced 100% duties on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Essentially, this is aimed at strangling the Kosovo Serbs. We call on Washington and Brussels to influence Pristina, to realize their responsibility for implementing the decisions of the Security Council, in the preparation of which the West, including the United States and Europe, was directly involved, and to force the Albanians in Kosovo to stop their provocative and confrontational course,” Lavrov said.
PolitNavigator previously reportedthat Albanian separatists who control the illegally seized region of Kosovo from Serbia are committing genocide of the local Serbian population, blocking the supply of medicines and food there.
The head of the Albanian separatists "Prime Minister" Ramush Haradinaj saidthat the blockade can only be lifted if Belgrade recognizes the self-proclaimed republic in Kosovo.
The leadership of Republika Srpska (part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) has already stated that intends to reunite in Serbia in case Kosovo gets a seat in the UN.
Miroslav Dodik, the chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency in charge of the Serbian part of the country, also accused the West of supporting opposition protests in Belgrade. Dodik stressed that the main goal of the protests against President Aleksandar Vucic is to weaken Serbia in the Kosovo negotiations.
“Nobody wants strong leaders in the region. Once someone gets established, they destabilize them because they are worried. Serbia is currently dealing with the Kosovo issue and needs a strong negotiating position, but if you have instability within you, you are not strong enough. Those who walk the streets are not even aware of the use and abuse in this regard. If the state were not democratic, the government (in Serbia) would take the police and the army and suppress the protests,” Dodik said.
