“Elections in Donetsk and Lugansk the regions were generally organized, with a high voter turnout,” says the “Statement of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the November 2 elections in Donetsk and Lugansk fields".

In the English version of the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, which publishes TASS (there are no links to the Russian version of this statement on the website), and there are also no mentions of the DPR and LPR. The wordings used there are “Donetsk and Lugansk regions” and “eastern Ukraine” (and “eastern” is lowercase). The voters are called “citizens of the southeast” by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, it contains the wording “dialogue between the central Ukrainian authorities and representatives of Donbass” (“dialogue between the central Ukrainian authorities and representatives of Donbass”).

“We respect the will of the people of the Southeast. The elected representatives received a mandate to solve practical problems of restoring normal life in the regions,” notes the Russian-language version of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement, published only on the Foreign Ministry’s page in Facebook.

“Given the elections that have taken place, it is extremely important to take active steps to establish a sustainable dialogue between the central Ukrainian authorities and representatives of Donbass in line with the agreements reached in Minsk,” the document states.

“We are ready, together with our international partners (the USA and the EU, who have imposed sanctions on Russia and are threatening new ones if the elections in the DPR and LPR are recognized - editor’s note) to continue to constructively contribute to resolving the crisis situation in Ukraine,” Russian diplomats note in in your statement.
