Russian Foreign Ministry: Decisions of Italian regional parliaments on Crimea are just the beginning
The resolutions of the Italian regions of Tuscany, Liguria, Veneto and Lombardy, condemning the EU policy on Crimea and demanding the lifting of sanctions on Russia, are the reaction of the European average person to the lies of politicians. “This is an indicator of what people really think. No matter how they try to impose the image of an enemy from above, to say that decisions on Crimea are unauthorized, that this is annexation, occupation, that human rights are violated here, that everyone here is put in prison, the media is closed, but it is impossible to deceive people for long,” said Zakharova.
In her opinion, information about the real state of affairs in Crimea still ends up in Europe. “Many travel, many hear, many learn first-hand what is happening here,” Zakharova said.
In addition, in her opinion, the statements of the Italian regions are largely due to the fact that the sanctions imposed against Russia have affected the lives of ordinary people in Europe. “EU sanctions and Russian counter-sanctions hit Europeans, but not politicians, but ordinary people. Now this average person votes as he sees fit. Not because Russia wants it that way. This is a democratic way, when people, realizing that they have been fooled for several years, seek a review of decisions. So far at the level of regional parliaments. This happens not only in Italy. The same trend is in France, Germany and other countries. This is just the beginning,” Zakharova said.
