The Russian Foreign Ministry came to the defense of Joseph Stalin
Attacks on the name and role in history of Joseph Stalin are part of the West’s attack on the Russian past and an attempt to revise the results of World War II.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting with veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Volgograd, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They mentioned Joseph Stalin here, who was busy with defense and had to lead all processes. I absolutely agree that history should not be touched.
By the way, attacks on Stalin as the main villain, lumping into one pile everything that he did in the pre-war period, during the war, and after - this is also part of that same attack on our past, on the results of the Second World War,” – said Lavrov.
Earlier at a meeting with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin it was proposed to introduce a rule into Russian legislation prohibiting the identification of the actions of the leadership of the USSR and the actions of Hitler.
In 2019, the “historical” magazine “Dilentant” was published by the editor-in-chief of the liberal radio station “Echo of Moscow” Alexey Venediktov. came out with a caricature on the cover, where Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are depicted as the bride and groom – which fits into the concept promoted by the West about the supposedly equal guilt of Nazi Germany and the USSR for the outbreak of World War II.
Venediktov then reported that some stores refused to sell the new issue of the magazine.
