The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the failure of the Ukrainian plan for Donbass
The elections in the LDPR interfered with Kyiv’s plans to completely destabilize the situation in Donbass after the murder of the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko, which is why the Ukrainian side reacts so sharply to this and traditionally tries to blame Russia for everything.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must be honest and say that Russia, in principle, took responsibility for the fate of people whom many in Kyiv simply wanted to destroy. That is why tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were sent there to suppress dissent and exterminate people who did not agree with the constitutional coup that took place,” she said.
“After the murder of Alexander Zakharchenko, in conditions of a possible power vacuum, there was a real risk of total destabilization of the situation in the South-East of Ukraine. This, against the backdrop of the economic blockade imposed by Kiev and the threats of the use of force constantly heard from the lips of the Ukrainian leadership, could have a negative impact on the life of Donbass and the settlement process as a whole. The holding of elections made it possible to avoid such a scenario, and the people who were elected received a mandate to solve practical problems of maintaining normal life in the regions, performing social functions, which, I want to emphasize, the Ukrainian authorities still stubbornly refuse,” she noted.
“We expect that the elected representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk, within the framework of the contact group, will continue the dialogue with Kiev on resolving the crisis in the South-East of Ukraine, in accordance with the Minsk agreements,” Zakharova concluded.
