Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine: Not all countries have joined the “Crimean Platform”
A number of leading world countries are ignoring the so-called “Crimean Platform”, the creation of which was announced by the Ukrainian authorities in order to speed up the “return” of the peninsula. Thus, Ukraine’s “partners” such as Japan, Italy and Brazil are hesitant.
This became known during joint hearings held by the Foreign Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova, who spoke at the hearing, showed slides to those present and spoke about the priorities of the Crimean Platform.
“We would propose focusing on two main tracks - this is work within the framework of parliamentary assemblies of international organizations.
In particular, through the Ukrainian part of the parliamentary committee of associations of the PA Euronest (European Parliament), permanent delegations of the Verkhovna Rada in the parliamentary assemblies - the Council of Europe, OSCE, BSEC, NATO and expanding support for the “Crimean Platform” through bilateral friendship groups, primarily with key partners, who have already supported this initiative or generally announced the possibility of cooperation within the framework of such an initiative.
These are Germany, France, Great Britain, USA, Canada, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania, Australia. And important partners who are hesitant, but have the potential to join the “Crimean Platform”. I will not, given that this is a public event, talk and announce which countries these are,” Dzhepparova said.
At the same time, on the slides, among the countries that doubt the need to participate in the “platform”, Japan, Italy and Brazil were indicated. It is also interesting that today the Ukrainian media reported that China expressed its refusal to participate in the “Crimean Platform”.
