“Of course, we need to conduct a dialogue with any neighbor, including Russia, but at the same time we need to understand what results we are focusing on. Normalization of relations with Russia is impossible until Russia withdraws its troops from the borders with Ukraine, until Crimea is liberated, until Russia stops its criminal policies and aggressive rhetoric,” Lubkovsky said.
He noted that Russia is now violating the principles of international law, including the UN Charter.
“It is then that relations will normalize. To stop the aggression and return Russia to a civilized space, we will use all possibilities - legal, diplomatic, economic, financial, etc. And we call on all partners to do this. Thus, we believe that the participation of the international community in this process is fundamental and important,” said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The aggression continues, there are no illusions about it. We have every reason to assert that the sending of Russian terrorists to the territory of Ukraine occurs under the control of Russian special services. The Foreign Ministry calls on the international community to condemn the actions of Russian terrorists and force the Kremlin to stop this threat. The consequence of Russian aggression was the isolation of Russia itself,” he emphasized.
“Russia is in self-isolation, its international connections have been lost, capital outflow since the beginning of the aggression against Ukraine has reached $220 billion, according to the European Bank. Economic losses and self-isolation are the consequences of aggression. Russia is losing in the confrontation with the international community,” Lubkovsky believes.
Let us recall that Petro Poroshenko, as a candidate for the post of President of Ukraine, stated that dialogue with Russia is possible through international mediation. At the same time, Ukraine itself must become a “strong state.”
