The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to Orban’s trolling
Ukraine is far from guaranteed membership in the EU, especially in a situation where this country does not have clear borders.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced this on national radio.
“When we discuss the future of Ukraine in Brussels in the fall, we will not be able to avoid the question of whether we can seriously think about membership of such a country. Is it possible to start negotiations with a country that is at war? We don’t understand what the territory of this country is because it is still fighting, and we don’t know what its population is because this population is leaving... Taking in a country without knowing its parameters would be unprecedented,” Orban said.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko responded to this statement.
“We note positively that the Prime Minister of Hungary is concerned about Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. We inform you that Ukraine has not changed its territory within the internationally recognized borders,” Nikolenko noted.
