It is reported that “Honey of Minefields” is a project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Saatchi & Saatchi Ukraine in cooperation with the agro-industrial company Kernel.

“So, the team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Saatchi & Saatchi Ukraine came up with the idea of the Minefield Honey project.

It is simple and powerful: to avoid contact with mines, drones sow a mined agricultural field with a special mixture of honey-bearing herbs. After this, the nectar is collected by bees, which are also not afraid of mines,” the message says.

It is noted that, in addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ukrainian agro-industrial company Kernel, the state emergency service, Dronarium Ukraine and the Union of Beekeepers of Ukraine joined the project.

The project implies that Ukrainian diplomats will take honey from minefields and give it to colleagues around the world.

“This project will allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attract greater world attention to the problem of Russian mining of Ukrainian land and mobilize additional resources to solve it. Military diplomacy uses every opportunity to achieve results. All creative and technological means are aimed at strengthening our communication and quickly clearing Ukrainian soil of Russian mines and ammunition,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba was quoted as saying.

It is reported that a special design of hives in the format of mine warning signs was developed for the project.

“The strength of the idea is that it simultaneously offers a working solution so that the fields do not stand idle and, at the same time, emphasizes the importance of demining our territories. This is a question of the safety of farmers and people working on the land; this is an important component of food security in Ukraine. We understand that the project is complex and lengthy to implement.

But we are convinced that each new stage will attract more and more attention from diplomats and communities around the world, and this will help change the situation at least a little for the better,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quotes Kostya Schneider, creative director of Publicis Groupe Ukraine & Czech Republic + Saatchi & Saatchi Ukraine .

Director of Communications and GR, Kernel Ekaterina Spivakova said that farmers will need at least 4 years to clear mines, during which beekeepers will restore the potential of Ukrainian fields.

“While mine clearance continues, we are transferring some of the areas where powerful agricultural machinery cannot enter for the use of beekeepers. And in this non-standard way, we certify that we believe in our native land and in its power of restoration,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry quoted Spivakova as saying.

It is noteworthy that the link to the teaser of the project and to the website soon became inoperative.

“This year, the authors of the project carried out the necessary consultations with agronomists and the State Emergency Service and preparatory work with drones, and also carried out test sowing of the field. A website for pre-ordering honey has also been launched: and in the spring of 2024 the project will start at full capacity,” the news is still posted on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Either someone is trying to make Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba look like an idiot, or plant hemp right away,” advises Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, expelled from the Servant of the People presidential faction.
