This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“The reason for concern of the Ukrainian side was a significant increase in the number of complaints from Ukrainian citizens about the groundlessness of refusals to enter Israel at checkpoints on the Israeli border, as well as the biased attitude towards them on the part of border service officers,” the press service said in a statement.
On October 8, 2015, consultations on consular and legal issues were held under the chairmanship of the Director of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrey Sibig and the Head of the Consular Service of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Igal Tsarfati.
The main item on the agenda of the negotiations, in which the leadership of the border control service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the State of Israel also took part, was the issues raised at the initiative of the Ukrainian side of ensuring proper implementation of the provisions of the Agreement on Waiver of Visa Requirements, concluded in 2011.
In this regard, the parties considered it necessary to take immediate, effective measures aimed at resolving the current situation, and agreed to conduct a broad information campaign to raise the level of awareness of travelers with the provisions of this Agreement and the requirements of immigration legislation.
