The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called the French Ambassador on the carpet because of Macron’s words
The French Ambassador to Ukraine was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to provide clarifications on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about Ukrainians, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the commentary of Foreign Ministry Speaker Ekaterina Zelenko “regarding certain statements by the President of France,” posted on the department’s website.
“In connection with the appearance of media reports about words attributed to French President Emmanuel Macron, the French Ambassador to Ukraine was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide clarification. The French Ambassador noted that the French side has no complaints against Ukrainian citizens traveling through France. Consequently, E. Macron’s words regarding the issue of migration and legal employment were taken out of context,” the press secretary’s comment says.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the parties confirmed that there is full understanding and cooperation between Kiev and Paris in the implementation of agreements on the movement of citizens of both countries.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with Valeurs Actuelles magazine that he prefers to see legally employed migrants from African countries in the country to “illegal Ukrainian and Bulgarian gangs of migrants.”
