Mikhail Delyagin: Governor Levchenko challenged the liberals from the Ministry of Finance
The governor of the Irkutsk region, Sergei Levchenko, one of the few leaders of Russian regions elected from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, initiated the introduction of regional bonuses to increase the salaries of public sector employees - doctors and teachers.
Levchenko said that the introduction of bonuses from 2019 is one of the most important tasks.
“We must bring the level of wages of public sector employees of the Irkutsk region to first place in the Siberian Federal District,” the governor said.
Well-known economist Mikhail Delyagin believes that Levchenko’s initiative may cause opposition from liberals in the Russian Ministry of Finance.
“One normal person in the entire Russian government has gone crazy. But the Ministry of Finance will not allow him to introduce regional allowances, because the Ministry of Finance’s task is to prevent, as far as possible, any development - neither economic nor social. A is a classic case of social development. The fact that Levchenko spoke out against this cannibalism is an honor to both him and the Irkutsk region,” Delyagin told a PolitNavigator correspondent.
