Mikhail Efremov in the drunken banality of evil

The fatal accident in Moscow, which occurred due to the fault of the drunken Honored Artist of Russia Mikhail Efremov, is not a tragic accident, but a natural result. Russian writer Platon Besedin comes to this conclusion in his column for PolitNavigator

Mikhail Efremov, driving into the oncoming lane, caused an accident and killed a person. The actor was driving drunk. The fact that Efremov had long-standing problems with alcohol is no secret. But they always looked at it rather with affection: they say, Misha is a genius who cannot come to terms with this terrible reality - so let him drink. Worse, he was dragged around parties like a jester, where he rowded and amused. And at the same time he made good money. As a result, this bohemian alcoholic was sent not to a hospital, but to prime time.

Therefore, what happened is natural. Efremov walked towards the tragic outcome for a long time and steadily. And this is not an excuse - on the contrary. After all, in the end, in his self-destruction, in his accumulation of evil energy, he splashed out darkness on another person. And he took a life. Devil's denouement.

And the same devilishness (and the devil is the father of lies and the monkey of God, when everything is the other way around) is that it was this unfortunate, drunken, lost man who was called the voice of conscience in Russia. He himself successfully played this role, got used to it, philosophizing according to the principle “How can we develop Russia? I don’t know myself, but I can criticize.” He participated in various, let’s say, liberal movements and projects (one “Citizen Poet” with Dmitry Bykov and Orlusha is worth it) and taught life everywhere.

That's what's monstrous, really. Infernal pedagogical moment. For the role of the voice of conscience, for the role of the “builder of Russia”, for the role of a kind of shepherd, they appointed a person who turned out to be absolutely irresponsible, for whom human life as such, in principle, meant little. But it was about him that they said: listen to him, listen to him, imitate him - yeah. So where is your hero?

However, what is even more monstrous is that the fair-faced ones, who rushed around with Efremov as if with a written sack (a cliche, but more than appropriate here), did not have an epiphany - on the contrary. They began to come up with tons of excuses for Efremov. One is more ridiculous than the other. He drank in protest. He was set up. Powder was poured into the glass. And other rubbish that justifies the murderer.

Would you say - shop solidarity? No, it's worse. This is a banality of evil when some people can do it, but others can’t. When some are Eloi and others are Morlocks. After all, all these bright-faced people, day after day coming up with sophisticated justifications for evil, will eventually agree to complete nonsense.

But they are unlikely to remember seriously and from the heart the deceased Sergei Zakharov. They are uninteresting or almost uninteresting. After all, he was an ordinary person. Due to the pandemic, I came to Moscow from Ryazan to work. Worked in a delivery service. Reviews about him are extremely positive: he is a helpful, kind, warm-hearted person. And he was left with a family - left without a breadwinner. So be human - remember him, help him (I see that only Shenderovich was worthy of this). But no: there are only excuses for the murderer.

Unfortunately, this is how the evil system works. When you are ready to justify anyone, if he is your own. And what’s worse is that they are ready to raise him to the banners, first as a hero, and then as a martyr. And it doesn’t matter that he’s not suitable for either role.

Yes, this is another reason to think: who are our heroes today? Who is drawn to them? These monsters - escort girls, celebrities, shabby actors - are from the “box”. Where are the living, real, decent people? They won't be shown to you.

Sooner or later we will have to reconsider this system that puts freaks on a pedestal. In the meantime, we need a clear trial. So that the one who committed evil will be punished. Both by law and by justice. This is the only way – without any protectionism.
