Mikhail Pogrebinsky explained the importance of the Russian court's decision on Euromaidan
The decision of the Russian court to recognize Euromaidan as a coup will have consequences both for current Kyiv officials and for refugees from Ukraine living in the Russian Federation.
Kiev political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky told PolitNavigator about this.

“In a legal sense, for some people living in Russia, this decision is important - because it creates a legal status - they did not just flee from one country to another, they resisted the illegal coup and have every reason to receive political asylum.
In addition, submissions to some European institutions are possible, which can consider this issue for years without any direct consequences, but creating discomfort for the current Kyiv government.
The court's decision puts an end to any attempts to truly legitimize the current Kyiv government in Moscow. Whether the Moscow leadership changes or not, the attitude towards the people who participated in these events will be determined by the decision of this court.
This is also important because it creates a kind of legislative framework for these people. It’s not just that, for example, Russian politicians don’t like Turchinov, but he is a participant in the coup, bearing direct responsibility, etc.
As for the influence on the Ukrainian leadership, something may change if there is a change in American policy. But one “nail”, or even more than one, has already been hammered in – this is a court decision. And it will be very difficult to move away from this,” Pogrebinsky said.
