Police officers who were injured while defending the gay pride parade - “March of Equality” in Kyiv in June 2015 from an attack by right-wing radicals, are recovering in Kyiv hospitals. Ruslana Panukhnik, a member of the Kyiv Pride organizing committee and one of the organizers of the Equality March, reported this.

“We, the organizing committee, collected money for the victims. They were handed over to Roman - this is the policeman who was wounded most seriously, in the neck. He's fine, we checked on him twice. He could already speak, the first time he just sat on the bed, the second time he met us in the corridor. Everything is fine, no complications. The rest of the police officers who were injured also received our support, we visited them. Well, there are minor wounds, mostly stab wounds,” she said.
Panukhnik also added that some of the participants who were beaten are still undergoing rehabilitation, but their situation is not critical.
According to her, the Kyiv police were not delighted with the gay pride parade and the need to protect it from radicals.
“Personally, from the experience of communicating with representatives of law enforcement agencies (regarding the Equality March), I felt that they did not support this event, and it did not fit into their worldview. But no one said that they would not come to guard and would not fulfill their obligations. They are employees. If someone from the police said that they wouldn’t come because they didn’t like it, then it would immediately be a trial,” she said.
