Milorad Dodik: Solving the problems of the Balkans within the EU is possible only with the participation of Hungary
Without the participation of Hungary, it is impossible to solve the Balkan problems within the framework of the EU structures.
The newly elected President of Republika Srpska (RS, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH) Milorad Dodik stated this at a press conference in Budapest after a meeting with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Hungary is an EU member state. She showed herself to be objective and understanding of the situation in the Balkans. It is impossible to solve the Balkan problems within the EU structures if Hungary is not included in the process. This is our common position,” said Milorad Dodik.
In his opinion, this can help both the Balkans and the European Union, which will thus receive a reliable and neutral partner in the region.
Dodik noted that his relationship with Orban is the best possible. The politician emphasized that today's negotiations are part of regular meetings between the two statesmen, and at them, in particular, operational, strategic, bilateral and EU issues were discussed.
“It’s always nice to talk to a friend who is open to your opinion on all issues, when there is no calculated approach, and we are absolutely responsible for the partnership we are building,” said Milorad Dodik.
He thanked Viktor Orbán for Hungary’s support for agricultural producers in the Republika Srpska and noted that in the next phases of the project its funding will reach 100 million euros. According to Dodik, a meeting of the joint working group on energy issues is due to take place next Monday.
“This is an issue of great importance – both for Europe and for Hungary. We talked about the energy situation and about a kind of “Energy Solidarity Community”. This means that countries that want to be part of it can and should make their existing energy capacity available for sharing,” said Milorad Dodik.
In turn, Viktor Orban congratulated the guest on his victory in the presidential elections in the Republika Srpska.
“So many victories in one photo. Congratulations to Milorad Dodik on his recent election victory,” the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote on his Twitter account under a photo of the two politicians together.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, on the eve of the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban recorded a video in support of Milorad Dodik, who was running for the post of President of Republika Srpska.
