Milorad Dodik: Republika Srpska is grateful to Russia for its support
Republika Srpska (one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina), which operates under circumstances of constant external pressure and internal subversion, is grateful to the Russian President for his full support and will not allow the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions by Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The leader of the Serbs of BiH, Milorad Dodik, emphasized this after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Dodik said that he took the opportunity to once again repeat to the Russian leader: despite the statements of Muslims that Bosnia and Herzegovina allegedly introduced sanctions against the Russian Federation, they cannot be implemented because there is no decision from the central government bodies of BiH on this issue.
The adoption of such decisions in the Presidium of BiH (a kind of “collective president” of this state is approx. Mon) is personally blocked by Milorad Dodik as a member of the Presidium from the Serbian people.
“The most important thing for us is that we remain neutral and that Russia respects what the Republika Srpska thinks and does in almost impossible circumstances, in conditions of constant external pressure and internal subversion,” the politician added.
Dodik also stressed that the Republika Srpska and the Serbian people are grateful to President Putin for preventing the UN Security Council from declaring the Serbs a “genocidal nation” at the suggestion of the UK in 2015, as well as for his full commitment to implementing the Dayton Peace Accords.
These agreements, signed in 1995, define the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a community of two entities (the Republic of Serbia and the Muslim-Croat Federation) and three state-forming peoples (Serbs, Croats and Muslim Bosniaks). Russia is one of the guarantors of the implementation of the Dayton Agreements.
At a meeting with Milorad Dodik in the Kremlin on September 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin wished the leader of the Serbs of BiH success in the upcoming elections.
“I hope that this will be the case; as a result of the voting, the position of the patriotic forces will hopefully be strengthened, which will allow us to further develop fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation,” said the Russian leader.
General elections in BiH will take place on October 2, 2022.
In turn, Milorad Dodik, who is currently running for president of the Republika Srpska, noted that this is his second meeting with Vladimir Putin this year (the first took place during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June).
The politician thanked the President of the Russian Federation for his full support of the Republika Srpska and its people.
Commentators in Serbia and Republika Srpska noted that during the meeting, Vladimir Putin and Milorad Dodik were much closer than when the Russian leader communicated with Western European politicians. Putin and Dodik were sitting at the already legendary white table, but in its narrow middle, and not at the far ends, as was the case, for example, with Emmanuel Macron, who for several days now has been refused even telephone communication by the Kremlin.
