“There is such an idea because a lot of questions arise,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “We are very wary of this and are afraid that goods from the European Union at zero duty through Ukraine will go to Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan and strangle our economies. This is natural, these are the fears of any state. Therefore, we are very worried about this.
“Secondly, in connection with the introduction by Russia of an embargo on the supply of certain goods to the Russian Federation, a different situation has arisen, and it would be very important for us to discuss this second problem in the Customs Union. I told my colleagues: let’s invite Petro Poroshenko to join in the discussion of these problems and others that exist in Ukraine, if he wants it, we’ll discuss these issues, they still can’t be avoided. They are extremely important for Ukraine, because Russia is slowly shutting down supplies of some goods from Ukraine. Recently the question was raised about alcohol, and even earlier about milk and meat products,” noted Alexander Lukashenko.
“They don’t reject everyone, everyone is ready to come to Minsk. They even spoke out in favor of some other party, for example, the European Union, the United States, if they are interested in normalizing the situation - economic, military and political - let's sit in Minsk and talk. We don't reject anyone. This is the common position of the three presidents of the Eurasian Economic Union. We wait. If Ukraine wants to discuss these issues, you are welcome, we will discuss them in the presence of anyone,” the Belarusian leader added.
“Whether it (Ukraine – editor’s note) decides to discuss these problems, we’ll meet and discuss it, it won’t – that’s its right,” Lukashenko said.
Let us remind you that earlier in the media there was information that a meeting of the leaders of the four countries could take place as early as this month in Minsk.
