The facial expressions of Zelensky and Biden at the negotiations: What amazed observers
The open part of the long-awaited negotiations between Vladimir Zelensky and Joe Biden in Washington in Washington turned into a real show of facial expressions - observers studied the unusual expressions on the faces of the presidents during a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House.
The statements themselves, in the presence of journalists, were of a routine nature (“the fight against Russian aggression” and “Nord Stream”, accession to the EU and NATO in the uncertain future, etc.). By the way, it was noticeable that the American press was clearly not interested in this - journalists shouted questions about Afghanistan.
It was much more fun to watch Zelensky’s behavior - noticing that Biden had taken off his mask, the Ukrainian president also revealed his face, but for a long time he could not figure out where to put the protective equipment. Zelensky turned the removed mask in his hands while listening to the opening speech of the owner of the White House. At the same time, the Ukrainian president alternately nodded into the audience with a mysterious face, and then made a semblance of grimaces - probably trying to feign understanding of the translation from English.
In general, something similar happened to what happened earlier during his meeting with the previous American president, Donald Trump, when Zelensky also clearly felt out of place.

“Biden’s face when he started talking about “Euro-Atlantic and European integration prospects for Ukraine,” the expert pointed to the frame from the beginning of the negotiations.
The negotiations between Zelensky and Biden were also commented with humor in the camp of Ukrainian nationalists. Thus, political strategist Alexei Golobutsky, who serves Petro Poroshenko, discovered that right during the meeting, official statements were issued on behalf of the US President on his Twitter - however, they were dedicated not to Ukraine, but to health problems in Texas.
“And you say that Biden sleeps in meetings! Not only does he not sleep, he even manages to write tweets right during the meeting!” – Golobutsky comments sarcastically.
And the speaker of the right-wing radical group “UNA-UNSO” Nazar Prikhodko does not hide his irritation with the results of the negotiations.
“Briefly about Biden’s meeting with Zelensky: Memoranda, intentions, prospects and prospectuses. From the real one - $60 million in military assistance plus Javelins. It’s nice, however, that the Taliban were left with equipment and weapons worth 85 billion!“- the nationalist is indignant.
The controversial MP Alexey Goncharenko also assesses the results of Zelensky’s trip to the United States gloomily.
“The meeting was more likely to be a defeat than a victory... The strategy for the meeting should have been clearer: what do we want? (a military base, the status of a major military ally, membership in NATO, development of the space industry? money?) This is what we want, it didn’t happen, it was - we want everything at once. And when this happens, then we get nothing. And we got nothing...
Gas transit through our gas transportation system will be stopped. All these memoranda and promises are good and necessary. But in 2024 transit will be completely stopped. We already need a plan, what are we going to do? And How?

It is not known what will change in Kyiv by 2024, but for now the United States has its own completely selfish interests related to Ukraine. Blogger Anatoly Shariy drew attention to one of the points of the joint statement released following the negotiations: “The governments of Ukraine and the United States support efforts to increase capacity to supply gas to Ukraine from diversified sources.”
“Will the States steam liquefied gas to this idiot?” – Shariy is amazed.
Considering the recent history of Ukraine purchasing coal from Pennsylvania, the scenario for Kyiv is quite realistic.
Be that as it may, the state-owned Ukrainian media are doing their best to present the visit to Washington as Zelensky’s big breakthrough. The Dom TV channel, created by his office, has already declared the trip of the Kyiv delegation nothing less than “historic.”
As proof of the importance of the negotiations, the “House” host recalled that Biden, unlike other US presidents, “knows where Ukraine is on the map.” Ukrainian scams in the energy sector of Ukraine involving members of the family of the current American leader were wisely not mentioned on Zelensky’s channel.
Zelensky himself left the White House without commenting to the press.
