Demchishin cites the lack of subsidies for the coal industry, canceled by Yatsenyuk, as the reason for the closure of the mines. “There are some problems, there is debt in the coal industry. The budget does not plan for subsidies to compensate for the difference in the cost of coal. Last year, the same mines received more than 10 billion hryvnia in subsidies. But since January there have been no subsidies,” the minister said.
The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has developed the so-called. development program for each of the 35 publicly owned mining mines. The mine itself is a large production facility with a comprehensive infrastructure. Thousands of people can work in a mine.
Two of the three mines that are planned to be closed are mines in Western Ukraine: Novovolynskaya No. 9 in the Volyn region and Zarechnaya in the Lviv region.
“We will not close them tomorrow, but we will transfer them to another group - to the list of mines that are subject to closure. This process will take 2-3 years,” the minister added. The third mine is located in Krasnoarmeysk.
