The Ministry of Education is driving Donbass teachers into a dead end: be Ukrainians and go hungry

According to the publication “062”, on September 1, school directors in Donetsk received a statement from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which stated that schools could not be opened. In its statement, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine warns colleagues that “the participation of teaching staff in such provocative actions (going “to work”, conducting “classes”, “educational activities”, etc.) is unacceptable and will have legal consequences.”
However, according to informed sources in the region’s education system, which the publication was able to collect, to date, school principals and teaching staff have not received any instructions from the direct management of the district education departments.
At the same time, directors of Donetsk schools received an offer to submit lists of employees who would like to receive financial assistance from the DPR, as well as work. According to one of the directors of a general education institution, teachers want to work: “One of our employees is already literally starving. Yesterday I went for humanitarian aid, her queue number is 365.”
The director also clarified that the last time teachers received money was when they went on vacation (late May-early June).
Commenting on the situation, Deputy Director of the Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Sergei Dyatlenko said that the ministry cannot guarantee anything to teachers. Dismissing, punishing, and conducting internal investigations are the competence of local authorities, since schools are subordinate not to the ministry, but to district councils. The official added that it is up to teachers to decide in which education system to work – the DPR or Ukraine.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in Kyiv they demanded the dismissal of all teachers who supported Novorossiya, and even began to prepare lists.
