The Ukrainian authorities plan to privatize everything possible. This was directly stated by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, US citizen Natalya Yaresko. “We plan to begin privatizing everything that can be privatized this year,” she said.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, headed by Lithuanian Aivaras Ambromavichus, is now developing a new program for managing state-owned enterprises. The document must be completed by the end of April.
As Natalya Yaresko noted, there are currently 3300 state-owned enterprises in Ukraine, most of which, in her opinion, are unprofitable: the state receives neither taxes nor dividends from them, Yaresko is sure. That is why they should be privatized, that is, transferred into private hands. Yaresko apparently included a number of regional power companies, Odessa Port Authority, Turboatom, Vinnitsa Kristall and other unique enterprises on the list of unprofitable ones.
According to her, the successful sale of 3G licenses to mobile operators is evidence of the success of privatization in Ukraine. In her opinion, the Minister of Finance did not explain how the sale of a license and the removal of enterprises from state management correlated.
