American Minister: Ukraine has become a world leader in tuberculosis
And about. Head of the Ministry of Health Ulyana Suprun spoke about the tuberculosis epidemic in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About this she wrote on her Facebook page.
“The tuberculosis epidemic in Ukraine is a serious problem for the country’s healthcare system. Now Ukraine is in second place in Europe in terms of tuberculosis incidence (based on the number of patients per 100 people). Almost every fourth case of tuberculosis in Ukraine is multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MRTB). That is, it cannot be treated with very effective anti-tuberculosis drugs,” Suprun noted.
She emphasized that in terms of the number of patients with this form of tuberculosis, Ukraine is one of the world leaders.
“In Ukraine, over the past 5 years, various models of providing outpatient care to tuberculosis patients have been developed and tested. However, a lot of work is still needed for these models to work fully,” the official noted.
