The American minister recalled how a year ago Lyashko’s assistant offered her a bribe in the form of an apartment
The acting Minister of Health, US citizen Ulyana Suprun, turned to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau because of an offer of a bribe from an assistant to a people's deputy more than a year ago, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She wrote about this on Facebook, and the department’s press service also confirmed this information.
On March 7, NABU detectives searched the home of Oleg Lyashko’s assistant Oleg Bogachev, as well as the home and work of the mayor of Vyshnevo, Ilya Dikov. It was allegedly about the case of offering a bribe to Ulyana Suprun.
“More than a year ago, one of the assistants to people’s deputies offered me a bribe in the form of an apartment so that, using my official position, I would help a medical institution obtain expensive equipment,” Suprun now wrote.
“The next day I contacted NABU detectives with a statement about signs of a crime. Later, my freelance adviser and I participated in investigative actions to document everything,” added the head of the Ministry of Health.
Suprun clarified that “the mayor of the city also joined further meetings with the deputy’s assistant, who confirmed the intention to take a bribe in the form of an apartment.”
“They offered to register the apartment in the name of my freelance adviser, who played the role of a confidant,” the official noted.
According to Suprun, the Ministry of Health is “always ready to help the community” obtain equipment, no matter how expensive it may be, “if there is a real need for it.”
“There are numerous international funds and donor support programs operating in the country, and significant budget reserves have been accumulated in the budgets of cities and communities. Supporting requests from cities and medical institutions for necessary equipment is part of our responsibilities. It is unnecessary to offer bribes to officials to carry them out,” said the acting head. minister.
In turn, the Ministry of Health stated that offers of bribes discredit the work of the government and do not allow restoring public trust in the public service and officials.
“In the entire history of independent Ukraine, there have been no cases brought to a court decision under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Offering, promising or providing an unlawful benefit to an official” with the participation of heads of ministries,” the ministry notes.
The ministry announced its support for NABU detectives and prosecutors of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in the fight against corruption in the highest echelons of power. Let us note that in this sense, the American minister is in line with the policy of the United States, which also issued carte blanche to the aforementioned Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies.
