The Maidan minister proposed cutting down the figure of Shchors from the iconic Kyiv monument, and leaving the horse
Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevgeny Nishchuk, a former leader of Euromaidan during the coup in Kyiv, proposed to “get creative” and instead of demolishing the Shchors monument, cut the Soviet division commander off the horse on which he is sitting.

The head of the Ministry of Culture announced this on air on the Hromadske TV channel.
However, before this, according to Nishchuk, experts must decide the fate of the monument to the red commander.
“If an expert group of the public, art critics, and activists decides that this monument to Shchors should not be there, then the Ministry of Culture will submit this letter. And we will carefully move it to a certain place. Because just to demolish it, as they joke now - and what is the horse’s fault, it could have carried Simon Petliura, whose street is below. Maybe we can get creative somehow. Once upon a time this was significant; I myself came up and helped when Lenin fell. But now we must do this in a civilized way,” Nishchuk said.
