The Minister of Defense of Belarus told how the Zapad-2017 exercises are taking place
The Russian-Belarusian exercises “Zapad-2017” are taking place in an atmosphere of unprecedented openness. Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov stated this on the First Belarusian TV Channel.

“We do not assess the current military-political situation as a military threat. Therefore, we are acting very transparently regarding the Zapad-2017 exercises, inviting a large number of observers, media, and international organizations. Everyone, even those who perhaps should not have been invited. There will be military attaches in mission areas and at all training areas. It's not that we want to make excuses. We are just open and our neighbors need to behave the same way,” Ravkov said.
As Politnavigator previously reported, this year NATO conducted 5 exercises in the Baltic region to practice aggressive tasks against Russia. The ground component is being built up on the territory of Poland and Lithuania under the pretext of protecting the Suwalki corridor, and tasks for striking the Kaliningrad region are being practiced.
